Are you ready for a new J. Travis Grundon book?
It has been a long time since I've made a real post, but I've been busy reworking my novel, tentatively titled Cloud 8. The book has had this title for a long time, but I think we can come up with something better. I have changed a lot of things about the book from when I first wrote it in 2010. I've toned down some things and added some new material, but it didn't feel right.
I hope to be able to announce the official title and cover art details soon.
This is my third pass of rewrites. I am happy with how the changes are coming along now. I have changed some things back to the way I wrote it originally and deleted a lot of the toned down crap. This is not going to be a happily ever after tale. I am writing the book I want to read and it will be full of sex, violence, drugs, and rock n roll, all the things my readers have come to expect from me. It is all in there because I like it and I want this to be a book I can be proud to say I wrote. I want it to have my voice and I want it to be unforgettable.
It seems like I want a lot of things but I'm not going to even send this book to the editors until I'm happy with it.
I've also submitted a story to The First Line Literary Journal. This is one of my favorite lit journals. It would be a big deal for me if they take my story. I should know if they want in May. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
If they accept my story, it will be in the next issue, due out in the Spring.
Joe Schwartz has a new book out. I've just started reading it and I'm really enjoying it. It is exactly what I want from a Joe Schwartz book.
If you are a fan of my stuff you will like Joe. He has been a big influence of mine. Check out his new book, The Veiled Prophet of Saint Louis!
