Locating TERMS

Here is the first look at the location that will be the Miller Hill Medical Facility, in the movie TERMS.

I named this facility Miller Hill after Victor Miller (writer of the original Friday the 13th) and Debra Hill(co-writer of John Carpenter's Halloween.) I gave it this name as a nod to the slasher genre. There is your worthless trivia for the day.

I have seen more pictures of the inside of this location and it is going to be practically perfect. It's not the place I imagined when I was writing it, but it works out great. I actually imagined a place I use to work in Vincennes, Indiana, but this might even be better.

I'm still very excited about this project and I look forward to seeing the developments with cast, crew and production unfold.

Yule Blog

Happy Holidays!!!

This has not been a productive week for writing. I've been doing a lot of cooking, spending time with my daughter, and getting ready for the holidays.

I had a nice big blog ready for this week. I opted not to post it because it wasn't anything worth posting. I don't have any big news to report yet, but I will very soon.

I really just want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

I also want to wish a big congratulations to TERMS director Joshua Hull for winning best Director-Feature Film in the Nerdremix best of 2011.

Blind Update

When I first got into writing I was stupid enough to think I could make a living at it from the beginning. I let my first publishing success go to my head and I made a lot of bad choices, but it didn't take long to be humbled.

To put it simply, I started drinking my coffee black because I couldn't afford sugar and I stopped smoking because I couldn't afford it.

Things have changed a lot from those days. I'm still not making a solid living on writing alone, but things have turned around and I'm building a body of work I'm proud of. I look forward to writing more books, and I actually want to write more movies.

The full first draft for TERMS is finished and approved. Director Joshua Hull loved it, and the buzz sounding this movie is growing at a fever pitch. I think people are really going to like this. I can also say that we have officially enter pre-production and casting should start around the first of the year, but I can say that Noah East (Beverly Lane) & Raymond Kester (Scalene) have already joined the cast!

Finishing NaNoWriMo is 20 days and finishing the script for TERMS in a week and a half, I have shown that I have a commitment to writing and that I can do anything I set my mind to.

My next project is rakishly clever zombie film for Well Hung Pictures, the production copy I co-founded with Brandon S. Bennett. We started brain storming movie ideas about two years ago, but this is the third thing I have written for WHP. Due to budget, equipment and casting problems, neither of those other projects made it off of the ground.

This time is already different. This time is also the first feature film. I am already1/4 of the way finished with this script.

Currently, this film will be directed Brandon S. Bennett, of Indie Film Revue fame. Bennett has worked on Steve Balderson's STUCK! He also worked on The 100 Years of Monster Movie production, in addition to his cameo role in Darkrider Studios contribution to The Collective, Meateater.

Meateater was based on my short story Contravention, from Eclectic Collection. I was lucky enough to write the first treatment of the script. That was my first dip into writing for film since my work on the movie/ TV series scripts I did for Evil Waise, in 2007/2008.

I am really enjoying working on these films. I have said before that I was ready to get out of horror and that I didn't have an interest in working in film again, but I have learned to shut up and just see what happens. I'm looking forward to a lot happening in the very near future. 2011 was productive, but I think 2012 is going to be an even better and more productive year.

Stay tuned!

Who The #@*%! is Joshua Hull?

This is Joshua Hull.

If you don't know who Joshua Hull is, you don't know how to use Google. There are countless links and websites for this guy. He's on Twitter (@JoshuaHull), Facebook, IMDB, YouTube and all over the world wide web.

Joshua is more than a white guy from Indiana. He's a loving husband and father, but if you're still not impressed, he's also a filmmaker. Hull is best known for being the brrraaaaiinsss behind the critically acclaimed, zombie comedy, Beverly Lane.

I have included the trailer at the bottom of this post.

Recently, Hull was faced with getting his next film Idiot Gore into production, but due to a series of mishaps and badness this film has been shelved for now. It was a decision he made with a heavy heart. You can read all about that misfortune on his blog posted below.

Don't think for a minute that he was to distraught to continue making films. In fact, He had already started talking to me about another great idea that I've blogged about previously, call TERMS.

At this time I'm over half finished with this script and planning to have it finished by the end of the week. The buzz surrounding this movie is already pretty big, and I'm personally VERY excited about it.

Hull was also recently a guest on Brandon Bennett's mini-view blog, The Indie Film Revue. Check it out below to learn a little more about Hull.

Now for a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT of my own related to Joshua Hull and TERMS:

Hull has given me permission to transform the script I'm writing for TERMS into a novel, giving me full book rights. I have already spoken with one publisher other that Glorious Bastards Press about the book vaguely, and I look forward to having that book out in time to coincide with the release of the film, but this only adds to my excitement about this project.

Stay tuned for more details on the book and movie a lot of people are going to be talking about, TERMS!
