Season of the Witch

As we fall into the Halloween season many people are watching a lot of horror films. I have added a list of my top ten Halloween/Horror movies, but I had to drop one to make room for Trick r' Treat. I'm sure this movie will move up my list with each time I watch it.

Writer/Director Michael Daugherty has created a timeless film, about the traditions of my favorite holiday. This movie flows much like reading a stack of old Tales from the Crypt comics, with a few modern twists. There is zero doubt in my mind that Trick r' Treat will become a staple Halloween movie for most people who watch it. I know it will for me.

Fear comes in more than one package. Aside from costumes, candy, jack o lanterns, candles and scary movies spooktacular terror also includes reading a nightmare inducing novel or story. Some of these stories as are old as campfire tales, but others are an innovation of fright. No matter what ghouls or bad guys get your ghost, this is the perfect time of year for a dark and twisted tale.

Here is another top ten list. It may come as a surprise to some folks, but I don't really read a lot of horror fiction. I don't really want other people's ideas running around on my head and I find life to be more scary than monsters in a book, but there are still a few I consider great ghastly reads. This is just ten of them.

My Top Ten Hollowreads!!!

1 Forrest J Ackerman's Anthology of the Living Dead
2 Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
